This Double Barrel B-Bomb from Fremont Brewing in Seattle is a Barrel Aged Imperial Winter Ale with an impressive alcohol content of 16.7 percent. The beer matures for one year in Elijah Craig bourbon barrels and subsequently another year in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels. This double barrel aging process results in a complex beer with notes of oak, cocoa, leather, toffee and dark coffee. Fremont Brewing in Seattle is known for its strong focus on sustainability, community and excellent barrel-aged beers, of which this B-Bomb is a perfect illustration. The beer is brewed with 2-Row Pale, Crystal-120, Munich, Roast Barley, Carafa-2 and chocolate malt, hopped with Columbus, Willamette and US Goldings. On the nose you'll smell molasses, chocolate and cola, supported by subtle notes of vanilla and dried fruit such as fig and raisin. Full-bodied with a long, warm finish and a subtle yet noticeable alcohol warmth, this is a beer that lends itself excellently to cellaring. This 375 milliliter bottle is, however, also perfect to enjoy right away, for example at the end of a long day or with full-bodied dishes such as grilled meat or rich desserts. A truly impressive beer for lovers of complex, mature ales who appreciate the art of barrel aging.
