About this release

The Abbot General Quadrupel is the 'optimum cervisiam' of Berne Abdijbier, the only Dutch Norbertine beer brewed according to the original recipe of the Netherlands' oldest still-existing abbey, the Abbey of Berne from Heeswijk-Dinther (anno 1134). This top-fermented specialty beer matures with sediment in the bottle and is composed of four carefully selected special malts, resulting in a dark color and a rich, broad flavor palette. Expect deep notes of dried fruit, caramel and dark sugar, rounded off with a very refined, spicy and long finish. With an alcohol content of 10.5% and a hop bitterness of 22 IBU, this Quadrupel has a particularly balanced flavor profile. This genuine Quadrupel for the true connoisseur proves that traditional brewing according to centuries-old recipes still produces results that can compete with modern craft beers. The bottle matures just like classic Belgian abbey beers, allowing the flavor to develop further.
