What a dangerous beer this is, it drinks so smoothly, you don't taste the alcohol percentage, but you certainly feel it. It's a classic Tripel, a little coriander added and a few minutes of orange peel simmered along. This gives you that spicy sweetness. Brewery Pirlot from the Antwerp town of Zandhoven has created a real charmer with Rug. This 8.5% ABV strong Tripel proves that subtlety and strength go together perfectly. The addition of coriander and orange peel gives the beer a unique twist that's noticeable in every sip, without overwhelming you with obvious flavor bombs. It drinks surprisingly easily for such a full-bodied brew, which makes Rug extra dangerous. The Belgian brewery, known for their Kempisch Vuur beers and their distillery, demonstrates their craft and craftsmanship here.
