Swiss Bliss / Short Throw is a collaboration with Brandon, where the base of this layered pastry stout was conditioned on Swiss Chocolate Almond coffee from Rostov's Coffee out of Richmond, VA, complemented with almonds and marshmallow. The result is a luxurious, decadent stout that evokes warm hot chocolate with brownie: rich and nutty from the almonds, soft and sweet from the marshmallow, and just enough coffee to keep everything in balance. This beer drinks like a bowl of rocky road ice cream. This brew comes from Equilibrium Brewery out of Middletown, New York, a brewery founded by MIT scientists that approaches brewing from a scientific perspective. While Equilibrium is world-renowned for their explosive hazy IPAs with enormous hop aromas and soft mouthfeel, this pastry stout proves their expertise reaches much further. The name Equilibrium refers to the balance they pursue in their beers, and that principle comes through perfectly in this Swiss Bliss. The coffee adds depth without being overwhelming, while the marshmallow and almonds provide a pleasant sweet finish.
