An authentic recreation of a beer that was once exported to the West Indian islands. Holy Goat Brewing from Scottish Dundee has brought this historic style to life with great care. For this 1895 Shipwreck Stout, however, they have focused on authentic recreation, using classic ingredients that were also used at the time. With an alcohol content of 8.0% percent, this is a full, characterful stout with a history. The combination of Chevallier base malt and roasted malts gives this export stout its dark colour and rich structure, while the No.2 Invert sugar contributes to the complexity. For those who have patience, Holy Goat Brewing is also working on an aged variant that will be available in a year, which will likely add even more layers to this already impressive beer.
