Barrel-aged wild ale from Ukrainian brewery Varvar Brew. A blend of wheat and rye base, shaped by Brettanomyces and lactobacilli. Aged for more than a year in oak barrels that previously contained red wine. Results in a dry, sour wild ale with an aromatic bouquet of stewed apples, citrus and green grapes. This complex beer makes itself known through its characteristic wild ale character, whereby the aging in red wine oak contributes subtle tannins and elegant acidity. With an alcohol content of 7.5 percent, Amalgam joins the classic style of fermented ales. The prolonged aging ensures a layered taste experience in which fruity notes combine with the dry finish.
